... you serious dood. Not scared at all, very unsettling as these guys are wild animals. At this stage Darren throws the chair at them and starts yelling at me to cook dinner faster, hmmm!! That should work.
We read afterwards a warning that the wart hogs have an extremely good sense of smell and any food left in tents may result in your tent being ripped by them to find what ever you left in there!!
... the fact that the mighty Nile, the world’s longest river, is forced between a 7 meter rock gap. The Nile is usually photographed as a very wide river, and certainly this is true before and after the falls, but the drop itself is rough and forceful, flowing at a rate of 300 cubic metres per second (11,000 ft³/s). We took many photos of the falls from the top, and enjoyed the refreshing mist. Monica was also proud to state that she recently learned (realized) that the Nile flows ...
Paraa Uganda, Masindi, Uganda i_giesinger... is becoming a government operation August 1. My response was to laugh; typical travel experience. I responded by saying “Tracy said if we are with you, they won’t make us pay, because they will see we are with JGI,” to which he replied “Tracy would say that.”
I explained to him as quickly as I could, all of the correspondence I had received regarding staying up here, and that it was only the day before I left that I received an email ...
... the right minibus to take me to the hostel. Even on the minibus the woman next to me told me exactly where to get off for the hostel since I could barely see with my backpack on my lap! You might be wondering why I decided to stay so far from the city center. Re Chilli Hideaway is where most backpackers stay while in Kampala. It has a campground where you can pitch your own tent ...
Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda jeneggener... high: I'd just finished a stressful day, was going on holiday and the hostel had a BAR!!!! Beer woohoo!!! We were up early on Wed and left at 8:30am for our journey up to Murchison Falls National Park. We broke off for lunch at about 1pm in Masindi but although Masindi is quite close to the park, we didn't arrive until 1630. I'm sure we could have done it faster but they are 'improving' a stretch of the roads between Kampala and Masindi so there is ...
Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda priya.akhurst... landscape, though...), and a long lunch break was exactly what I needed the time we stopped. Although it was a pretty regular lunch - chicken curry with rice and veggies - I was satisfied and we kept moving for two more hours, towards the falls themselves. Robert stopped in a big sandy parking stop, near the falls. We could here the falls from a short distance. After a short while, Robert told us that the hiking we should do, a one-hour walk around the ...
Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda gsella... bring one home and as I have just found out that they are diminishing in numbers I need to look into whether there is a save the warthog campaign going! Also there is a resident Hippo who comes to eat at 3am , when all the camp lights are out - which is interesting if you want to take a trip out to the bathrooms in the middle of the night! Was funny waking up to hear him eating in the middle of the night. We ...
Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda mandy_karl... interest, the female presented her behind and the male went for it. It was all over before it began, but it was fun to see how these two had to sneak away to have some fun. There are a lot of baboons in this forest and they were all around us. We stopped to watch them a few times and they were always entertaining. Locals really have a problem with the ...
Kaniyo Pabidi, Uganda gilbertenstein... including their babies. So they keep close and everyone's happy. As you round the corner the falls suddenly open up in front of you - but they are a good 4-500m away. You really don't get very close because they are so violent. The captain takes us to a small rock island in the middle of the river where we can get off and take photos of the falls some 500m away. Here the nile is squashed into a crevasse 7m wide and the ...
Kaniyo Pabidi, Uganda gilbertenstein... introduction to the falls. The next day we headed up for a walk of the falls which provided us with some great views of the falls. We were able to get very close to the falls which was pretty impressive as you could see how strong they really are. There are no other falls that I have been to in the world where you can get so close, there is no rail or rope blocking you from getting so close.
