    I called Jason from Phoenix airport and he joked about going outside to get baked since he used to work in this city for about 5 years. The high temperature was 115 F that day in Phoenix and when we got to Seattle it was only 63 F. In the same day we traveled through 3 time zones from coast to coast and experienced the high temperature in the desert and low by the sea.

    ... accompanied by a picture of a couple armed with mallets smiling expectantly as their entire dinner is tipped out of a serving dish onto the table in front of them. The waiter looks glum….

    Nicola, we went down to the Elliott Bay Bookstore later - but it has gone! Local businesses are selling up because their footfall has dwindled - apparently they have moved to Capitol Hill. I was sorry not to spend half an hour in one of my all-time favourite bookshops.

    ... pretty groggy for a while, but once I had a few hours of driving under my belt, I was ok. I made the whole trip which is about 1200 miles in 1 day...oh yes, I am a badass. I would have made better time, but I got stuck in a traffic jam in Portland for an hour. I was not happy because that was only 2.5 hours from my brother's house, so I was pretty uncomfortable and cranky by that point, but oh ...

    ... he suggested to go for drinks i politely declined and took full advantage of my jet lag. I left him in the street outside my hotel while he still tried.
