    ... at least part of the way. What we did not know was that there was a community walk in aid of Suicide Prevention and thousands of people were crammed on to the bridge ready for the start. Instead we crossed by car but did get a good look at the edifice as we drove over the river.

    ... the road. Three lanes of traffic stopped in each direction. A time to get out of the car and chat to other drivers, walk further up the freeway and watch the emergency vehicles appear, discuss the state of the road, wonder about the fate of the people involved, watch as more and more cars attempt the down,up,down,up route across the dividing lane/median strip, speculate on whether we could risk our rental car doing that, chat ...

    So, this is IT! We are "ready" (I put quotations around the word ready because planning a 6ish week long road trip with three kids - can one truly really be 100% ready?). Tomorrow morning we leave bright and early for Niagara Falls, destination #1. Everyone is excited (and nervous) the house is secure, "see you laters" have been said, and we will be off on our adventure to see America!  Tomorrow!! ...
