There's something to be said about the unexpected. Off Exit 27 on Highway 5, headed to one of my favorite haunts, Blue Ridge; I detoured temporarily and found myself in Ball Ground. I had only walked a mile when I received my first Trail Magic! A guy named Fresh Grounds set up a tarp and was cooking everyone breakfast. I ate my body weight in pancakes and one lets then drank some coffee to top it all off. It pretty much lightly rained all day long. We hiked about 10 miles and are staying ...

... here : willontheAT.tumblr.com Due to the fact that we are probably going to get a little bit of freezing rain tonight we are probably going to hike the approach trail to Springer Mountain tomorrow morning. The forest road to Springer is just a little too sketchy. It's a weird feeling planning half a year for something and it finally being here. I'm a little anxious, but mostly I'm excited to start this ...
