... has always been presented to me on top of a sugar cone, with two different flavored scoops, beckoning me to remember what it was like to be a kid again. In fact, though I like it when a wayward butterfly or ONE ladybug lands on me, because it makes me feel special; I prefer the giggle that comes from powdered sugar tickling my nose. I said goodbye to my parents and Jessie on Monday and started the Approach Trail to the AT. The Approach Trail was by no means easy. There was a lot of slushy snow, and to make things even more fun we climbed about 2,000 feet in elevation. It was all worth it once I got to the top of Springer Mountain. It was awesome to see the first white blaze and take the first steps of this 2,200 mile hike. I've met some really cool people out here so far. Mathew is from Alabama ...
