    ... soil. Starting at 3,000 pounds, the weight is steadily increased to about 8,500 pounds, until only one team is able to pull it forward.

    We return back home to our farm so the kids have some more time to play with the farm kids before dusk. In fact, they are helping the farm host to spread oats seed on a field. Wears out some of their energy, great!

    ... early due to torrential rain! We ended up packing up a bit early, we headed to a shelter for breakfast and then got back on the road. We were lucky that although some tents got wet, some areas of the campsite were almost completely flooded!     It's Christmas Day and my present to myself is to be climbing into my car and head'n down the rod to Washington DC - the weather service suggests generally good weather for DC and I have always wanted to go to the Smithsonian, so, as I was so close (400 miles / 600 km) it seemed like a good idea!

    I flew out of Seattle today to Cleveland, Ohio to collect my new (for me) 1976 Buick Electra.

    I now understand why my friends almost fell off their chairs with laughter when I mentioned 'Cleveland' - there is somewhere that can be colder than Seattle, Washington in Winter! When I arrived and walked out of the airport to get a taxi, I felt little flutterings against my face - it was only when I looked into the light of the nearest light that I realized it was lightly snowing!!
