... uneventful, spent tarmac treading between Carleen and Rame Farm, unfortunately to try and achieve a south/north direction (which is our goal), it is not always possible to use footpaths. During the route we passed through several typical Cornish hamlets and surpisingly many had covered bus shelters, which were very welcome for several pitstops due to the inclement weather.

I wiped out today. I have to take full credit. I veered left into a huge hedge, the type that lines most of the country roads here in Cornwall. Not sure if it was the huge wind turbines or the map on my handlebar bag that distracted me, but before I knew it I had a face full of hedge! Luckily i had my bandana on so my face wasn't cut up by all the thorns. My leg got it pretty good though ...and Goldie didn't fair so good either. ... no shoulders. Rear derailleur started acting up again after Randy, a kind bike mechanic in Bath, who randomly enough hails from Alberta!! fixed it up to perfection a few days previous. Got into Penryn so cold and wet I needed a cafe mocha and hot tea to stave off the hypothermia. You'll be happy to know that this remedy was successfull!

Though meeting up with Jessica and then going Cornish dancing with her and a few of her schoolmates was worth every bit ...

... to my left as I approached the reservoir was whirring noisily, swishing and making itself heard. Other than that the place was strangely quiet. It was good to see Stewart parked and waiting. Leek and Potato soup, ham and pickle rolls, crisps and grapes for lunch- great. 16.5 kms walked today before lunch. One and a half miles to go to finish the planned days walking but I made the decision because of the weather to delay this last bit until tomorrow. The clouds were ...
