Hoover Dam, tick!!! Now for Grand Canyon .......
Girls ventured out out into the cold morning air and took some shots of Lake Mead. Julia returned with a nickname for the Lake Mead surroundings, "This is Rats Desert." Okay! In Oz there's a Bikie Gang called the Desert Rats so since we're doing everything opposite here perhaps she means there's a Bikie Gang nearby?! Most amusing sight after …
Leaving Las Vegas
The kids were hanging out for a swim so spent some time in the park pool, then Annie and the girls got some last minute souvenirs from Circus Circus that they had spotted two nights before.
We contacted Cruise America’s Customer Assistance (who are no real assistance at all) and they sent us to a bulldozed site and Goodyear shop …
Grand Canyon Helicopter Ride! Hell Yeah!
We finally reached the Grand Canyon http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_Cany on and our first major park! After and overnight stop in Clay Springs AZ, we arrived at the Grand Canyon state park just in time for sunset on Thurs, 3 July. We didn't originally intend to be there over the independence holiday weekend, but we decided to call to make …
It's just a big ditch, isn't it?
Well it's true what they say, you have to see it to really appreciate just how impressive it is (the Grand Canyon, that is). Watched the sunset over the canyon on our arrival, then after a surprisingly cold night (over 7000 ft, after all) walked most of the Rim Trail along the South Rim. After our (still noticeably) painful experience with horses …

Very nice and quiet - convenient to all the places we want to visit. We were very happy to get in as we did not have reservations. Would recommend it to anyone.

We are so glad we were able to stay at Trailer Village in the Grand Canyon Village. We called last minute and they worked with us to get a space for three days. The park is smack in the middle of all the action and an easy walk or shuttle bus from everything you want to do and see at Grand Canyon.
The park is very secure, and the staff is great - they even went out of their way to deliver a fax to us that came in at another hotel in the Village - can you believe that?

Not the prettiest park and no Wi-Fi are two negatives to this park. However, it is close to everything in the Grand Canyon and is on the shuttle bus route. This really saves time to do more stuff around the canyon.
