WOW, WOW, WOW.......

We started our journey inland with a one night stopover in Temecula, about 90mins inland from San Diego. We arrived in the dark and left pretty early the next morning as we had a long day ahead. We stopped at the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway - a cable car that goes about 1.5 miles UP a mountain near Palm Springs. The car itself rotates as it goes up …

Encounter with Fossils and then Into the Canyon

We really like our Trailer Village camp. It's so quiet; we all got a very good night sleep. We were toasty warm even though it dropped down into the low 40’s. We had a quick cereal and oatmeal breakfast and then did some housekeeping chores – refilling a propane tank, organizing school books and preparing for a hike.

The first …

“There is of course no reason at all in trying to describe the Grand Canyon. Those who have not seen it will not believe any possible description. Those who have seen it know that it cannot be described…” Excerpt From: Michael Joseph Oswald. “Your Guide to the National Parks.” - the book I have been using to guide me …

Amazing canyon

This is one of the greatest things that you can get to see when your out west. The vast depth of the canyon is amazing and this evening with the light reflection off of the sides of the hills gave some idea as to how deep it is. This massive canyon was carved out by years of water flow from rivers that feed into the Colorado river, this had lead to …

Grand Canyon day two

We woke up early and got on the trail down into the canyon around 8:45am. It was a perfect plan! Not as hot and not as crowded. We were really proud of the boys. We went about a mile and half down and then back up. It's tough coming back up. We ran into a young couple on their way back up that were tired and breathless. They had just biked from …

It's a nice village. Not jazzed about the public pay-as-you-use showers a half mile away. $2.00/8 minutes. Glad we have our own shower in the camper!

Very nice and quiet - convenient to all the places we want to visit. We were very happy to get in as we did not have reservations. Would recommend it to anyone.

We are so glad we were able to stay at Trailer Village in the Grand Canyon Village. We called last minute and they worked with us to get a space for three days. The park is smack in the middle of all the action and an easy walk or shuttle bus from everything you want to do and see at Grand Canyon.
The park is very secure, and the staff is great - they even went out of their way to deliver a fax to us that came in at another hotel in the Village - can you believe that?

Not the prettiest park and no Wi-Fi are two negatives to this park. However, it is close to everything in the Grand Canyon and is on the shuttle bus route. This really saves time to do more stuff around the canyon.
