... This is a peregrine falcon. I once saw something on Nature that showed a Snowy Owl who lost a chick. She first mourned. Then she tore it apart to give to the other two starving chicks. In other words survival is THE most important on their minds. That falcon was either hungry (though his crop sure looks full) or it might have been a wayward bird in his territory that he had just killed. You are very lucky to have witnessed this!"

The bikes accompanied us from the Longview/Rainier bridge along US 30 to the St. John's Bridge, then I saw them again when they approached the finish line in Holladay Park, a few blocks from my house. When we came out of the museum it was raining so hard it was like a waterfall on the sides of the hangar. Fortunately as we drove back to the campground the rain stopped for a short while so we decided to drive the Cape Loop Road along ...
- drove out Hwy 22 & Little Nestucca River to the beach at Pacific City
- then south on Hwy 101 to Lincoln City
- visited the Outlet Mall and the Indian Casino in LC before heading back inland to Dallas
- found lots of whole sand dollars / ...
