Day 7: Pigeon Forge is a kids' Vegas

A travel blog entry by elainesj on Jul 19, 2014

... to do in Pigeon Forge, we should have pancakes for dinner! Unfortunately, we found out that pancake places all closed at 2-3pm. (You would think tourists would want pancakes at 1am after riding on crazy go karts?! Maybe its time for me to go into business...). After some searching, we found a place called "The Diner" in Sevierville that served all day breakfast. It was pretty good pancakes and we left full ...

... and struggling with the internet. Finally, we decided to cancel the boat rental and try driving 30 mins into Bryson City to shop.

We spotted an article about an organic honey place in Bryson City and we set off to find it. Unfortunately, we found the shell of a building partly constructed - the place wasn't open yet!! We drove around for a few minutes and quickly concluded ...

Day 5: Attempted a quiet, lazy day

... and the swim very pleasant.

Thao was terrified of the rope swing but finally ended up jumping off it. Mika and Matt both also mustered up the courage to jump. What a hoot!

Our lazy day ended up to be pretty exciting!

Then, we finished up with the bonfire to end all bonfires! We thought the first night's fire was big. Then the 2nd night, the fire was ...

    Day 4: All about riding!

... to take us out for an hour if we wanted. We were thrilled and quickly got ready.

We had explained Matt was reluctant because the last time we rode, he had an awful time controlling his horse. The owner assured Matt he would ensure he had a great time and gave him a small, gentle horse (Bailey) who behaved perfectly the whole ride. My horse, Dennis, was similarly well behaved. Will was on Patchy who often stopped to eat. Ashley's horse, Pearl, ...

Day 2: Super duper wild tube ride

... switched to hiking shoes and hiked the waterfall trail that started right from the same parking lot. We did cut it short after an hour or so as we figured the boys would be done.

We returned to find the two men snoozing while Matt and Esen ran around them in circles. They had also found some awesome glittery iron pyrites, one in the shape of a heart, in the creek.
    We would definitely go back!
