... who opened it early and had cookies and bottles of water for everyone who came by for a clown show. They had contacted all of the babysitters and daycares in the area and by the time we were ready to get started, there were over 23 kids there! John entertained, handed out balloons (helium ones that the restaurant also provided), cookies, and bottles of water, and after everyone went back to daycare, they treated us to lunch!

Campground
Site #65 - Illinois State Park with site water, electric, dump station.

This is a spacious campground that is very clean and well maintained. Friendly park staff and hosts. Nice trails from the campground and another set on the other part of the park. Surprisingly not very crowded.

The city of Clinton might still be a small hamlet named New York if it were not for geographical good fortune. Platted as the town of New York in 1836 by its first settler, Joseph Bartlett, the community was one of several that clustered on the west bank of the Mississippi River. Other communities were Lyons, Ringwood, Chancy and Camanche.
