Rome - Revisited

A travel blog entry by royle on Jul 08, 2013

Today we revisited Rome so as we could see the things we missed a few days ago and also for somewhere to stop on the way back north. Temperature still in high 30's with bright sunshine. We took the campsite bus which runs every 15 minutes to the local train station where for 2 euros you get a return ticket to Rome, you must remember to validate …

Day 73 - 8/05/05
San Gimignano to Rome
We set off nice and early to try and miss the road blocks that were being put in place for the big bike race. On our way to Pongibonnsi by 8.30am. Our trip to Rome was only about 220km but we didn't know where we were staying and we definitely didn’t want to drive into the centre of Rome so we …

Not a good day in Rome - Caroline

A travel blog entry by wrightsofnapier on Apr 28, 2013

Today we decided to go into Rome in the late afternoon, when hopefully it would be quieter, and do a segway " mess around " in the park followed by ice cream and food or cinema .

It was not to be .....Segways had run out of batteries, the 4 seater bikes required a document to enable us to hire them ( we had no document ) , so we jumped on …

Excellent place to stay when visiting Rome. Campsite excellent with bus that takes you to the local train station every 15 minutes and runs up to midnight.
Trains are very frequent and cheap.

Great site - easy to get into Rome from the site and the shop and restaurant were open this time of year and good. toilet blocks etc clean and overlooks the River Tiber which gives it a pleasant setting . Staff at the reception desk were very cheerful and helpful ( particularly when we locked ourselves out of our van !!).

Great location, nice pool and excellent sanitary facilities. Lots of mosquitoes, but that's the river's fault!

We loved this campsite! Though a bit crowded it had amenities in plenty to deal with lots of campers- no wait for a good hot shower in the morning with clean spacious facilities. The staff are friendly, helpful and fun. The restaurant has great breakfasts and coffee at reasonable prices, the dinners, drinks and appetizers are worthwhile in the evening as well. The grounds are like a garden, and after trying out many campgrounds in Italy, this was our favourite!

    Nice relaxing campsite

This campsite is very nice complete with a market area, bar and restaurant, laundry facilities and a nice pool. The reception is helpful and gives u a map (although they do not suggest what to see in Rome so theres room for improvement there). It is a 20min commute from Rome in which the latest you leave Rome is 10:20pm and the earliest you can get to Rome is between 830am and 9am (disadvantage for Vatican). But the camping and bungalows are nice. the very basics. prices are the cheapest you can find for staying in rome. The mattresses in the bungalows are AWFUL. i sink right to the springs so a tent is the way to go until the replace them
