... the rock over 2000 years ago. Through the whole time of ducking and diving through the caves and coming across ancient cave art and sculptures i couldn't shae off the Idiana Jones theme tune and caught myself whistling it a few times. Following the people around the caves are monkeys, not nice funny monkeys but monkeys im quite sure were infected with cat aids which made them crazy and they tried to eat people. I had one jump on my backpack which in true Indiana Jones style i ...

He had seen the last of me and he felt good about it.!

They told us to watch the sunset, while they made a fire and a meal. It was basic desert caravan meal. Rice, cooked eggplant, and a fry bread. We each had a cold beer, ordered earlier and brought to the end site by Soda. While they cooked the meal,we scanned the desert sky.It was ...
Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, India thomasgillam... the landscpae.

The big thing about Jaisalmer, apart form the laid back town and rofftop dinners (all cooked by kids) is the Camel Safari, heaps of well-dressed and charming men (which Lucy fell for) all try to sucker you in. The safari takes you on the back of a camel into the desert for a night of sleeping on the sand dunes!! My camel was called Papaya, and Luc's Sanjay, but ...
Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, India perry.f.jackson... desert at 7.30am. After half an hour's drive we pulled over and met our two guides - Abdulah and I can't remember the second guy's name. Our camels lay in wait, chewing their cud, ******* and spitting whenever the feeling took them. As we mounted these amazing creatures it startled me how tall they are. Sitting a good 8 foot in the air, I struck a silent bargain with my camel; that I'd let him have the occassional graze of any nearby shrubs and go easy on ...
Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, India owain... trade shifted down to (then) Bombay, there was nothing for the village to make money on and so they all gathered their belongings had a 1-day mass exodus. The second story is that the prime minister of Jaisalmer had fallen for one of the girls in the village and asked the family to present her to him in marriage. The prime minister already had some 5 wives at that point and was rumored to be a cruel man. The family agreed (it's not like they could just say ...
Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, India athena... seeing his master chatting on his mobile phone- I thought this was the dessert (Damn vodaphone). More of a shock was the 'high guy' looking for a lost French girl in the pitch black dessert. It was however a fantastic experience, now that my **** has recoverd and I finaly have removed all traces of sand. Would I do it again- definatly and especially just to see the incredible starry sky.
Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, India ladytonholiday... the exact watching place, we spent 5-10min going around Kichan. Finally a turn into a small alley, we saw birds flying above us, and then more cranes! There was a dog blocking the driver's path and he sounded the horn and that scared the birds as we saw many took to the sky. There was a watching platform above Bird View Guesthouse and our driver communicated with a teenager boy and he invited up to ...
Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, India cresc... Roaming around on Raju(my camel) was a real treat and sleeping under the stars was special. We ate, drank and heard all 'Mr Desert's' tall tales around the camfire before bedding down under BIG blankets and a beautiful starry sky. Apart from this amazing experience, we spent most our time in Jaisalmer losing ourselves in the incredible fort that rises up like a ...
Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, India bellag... leave india and marry someone in our country. "i call you in 3 months to check your progress" oh geeze..... Sleeping under the stars was amazing. The sound of the wind and the desert and the camels....it was worth the pain in my ass....i mean the literal Pain in my Ass. We woke this morning to hot chai...watched them try to round up the rogue camels...and made our way out of the desert. They rigged a stirrup for my left leg. Melissa's new camel was most unhappy and tried to ...
Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, India chelah... and just concentrated on the fort. Still that didn't stop everyone trying to sell us tours for it!!! The actual old town with its bazaars was quietly quite pleasant and the view of the giant fort rising from the desert really did look like a big sandcastle. Unlike Jodhpur with fort was a complete museum this is still a working, breathing place. The little alleyways that host shops and cafes were fantastic to work around and the views from ...
