We got on the road early as we knew it was a big travelling day. Danny was expecting a few stoppages as the police are often out and about doing vehicle checks during the Christmas time. We did only get stopped once. The road was good once again and we seemed to move along at a good pace. We have just been getting the sandwiches from the ...

We've had a fantastic time at Makanyane and it was a little sad to leave. But I am looking forward to going home. Though I could certainly get used to having all my meals prepared for me, the cleaning done and the bed turned down!

... to the lodge and she tells me there are elephants all around and as we walk toward the lodge we pass another elephant within about 30 metres. They don't pay us any attention but I'm feeling quite alert as I enter the lodge.
Well on tonight's drive we saw more elephants than you can poke a stick at. At one stage a herd crossed the drive path in front of us but there were still a couple on the other side that we needed to wait for before passing. At another point ...

We often cross the river during game drives at a place called The Drift, so what do we see this morning when we approach but a pride of lions. It's a different one to what we've seen before - two males, an older female and two younger females. The dominant male was in a bit of mood and was following the older female who was having none of him and growled at him and gave him a smack. The three younger lions are trying to ...
