... evening’s game viewing. The drive back with the cold wind drying my face and freezing me to death is so very long. The blanket that is provided cuts a little of the wind but not enough. We have a wee bit of time before dinner and discover that the guide does not sit down to dinner with the guests. It would have been nice to discuss the drive and learn a little more from JR, but he may be ...

    Madikwe Safari Lodge - great!

... This made for great drive experiences.

In the resort, we were served exceptionally well. Although we cringe at the thought of being served, the staff had a very discreet approach. Among these members, Constance, our butler, took good care of us, particularly our two boys. We are very pleased with our stay at Madikwe and have ended our safari experience with a bang.

These safaris have been a once-in-a-lifetime experience!

Later in the afternoon, the three of us went for a short game drive. We didn't see much at ...

... elephant is such a huge powerful animal!

But big or small, the wildlife around here never gets old. We have seen tortoises, chameleons, dung beetles rolling up balls of dung for their mate to cling onto, butterflies, mongoose, rock dassie, baboons, wild dogs (which are amazing and quite rare), and hyena.

On the evening game drive the second day we finally saw the beautiful lions. They had recently had their ...

It was really hard getting up to start work at 7 this morning after having the last few days off relaxing with friends. When I got to the lodge I realised that I didn't have to be there until 8 – how annoying. As I was about to waste time on the internet, the maintenance man told me that the wild dogs had made a kill at Room 2. As I walked closer ...
