... and jump from the bus despite the inflated fare we paid to cross.

We joined everyone with sense in the dusty line of brightly coloured head scarfs, babies bound tightly on the backs and walked the brick dust red road to the shore. We just missed a boat. A man had to be stopped from trying to jump on to its back. We sat in the shade with everyone else and waited.

The loading, unloading and turningarounding took an hour. As the ferry hit the bank ...

After a breakfast of bread, jam and egg at Tendaba it was back on the road - dusty to start and then thankfully back on tarmac!
Today's stops were on the outskirts of the vast Kiang West National Park:

Upriver to Tendaba

Today was a long journey up-river to Tendaba, JJ's home village.
Our first stop was at the locally-managed Farasutu Reserve - a gem of a reserve providing open areas, dense woodland and a fresh-water pool.

New species seen here of note was a Yellowbill - only the second time for JJ to see this bird and Green-Headed Sunbird, a lifer for JJ so we were thrilled to have excellent views of both species.
