Kwai river camp, Botswana harryabroad... path we saw a male and a female in the distance, also moving quickly. In fact, it’s amazing how fast they walk. We kept up a steady quick pace in an intersecting line and watched as they stopped and started again making their way towards us. As we got closer we saw that the baby giraffe had caught up to the parents; the male giraffe sniffing the female’s booty the whole time requiring her to speed up or ...
Okavanga Delta, Botswana claraz8... on the water anyway.

We left after most people and spent much of the first hour alone. It was really peaceful and quite comfortable. Our poler had set up our sleeping mattresses so that we had a part to sit on and a part to lean back against. As we silently made our way through the water, the reeds parted gently, the nose of the Mokoro splitting them evenly. In most places the water was barely knee deep, in ...
Okavanga Delta, Botswana claraz8... we found another huge male lion lazing next to a lioness. We would later find out that he was the dominant male of two brothers... the other brother being the lion we had been watching all morning. The lion and lioness proceeded to mate a number of times as we and a few other safari vehicles watched on. In the process of following them, we suffered yet another vehicle calamity. A serious puncture to our front right tyre... how on earth were we going to ...
Moremi Game Reserve, Botswana mattersdorff... and nodded solemnly to the Germans - 'hope you'll be OK,' I said sadly. We put on our hazards and slowly and gingerly started off, it was then that another game drive truck was coming towards us - my goodness it was like the M25! He stopped expecting us to go off-road to let him pass, I got out and explained that we had just had an accident and couldn't. Apparently he wasn't allowed to go off road and demanded that we do, we stood firm and very angrily he drove round us ...
Moremi Game Reserve, Botswana jowhiting... we sorted her out with a cabin for the next two days while I packed a day sack and headed of on a truck. It was sleeping bags on the open sided truck again as it was absolutely freezing, the locals must have had a laugh at all of us driving along sitting side by side in sleeping bags, freezing our nuts off. After a couple hours drive we finally made it to the delta and the sun came out to warm us all up a bit. We unpacked all the gear from the truck and into the local ...
Okovango Delta, Botswana shieldsontour... hippos and two crocs swimming in it. On the way back we ran into a set of trees that had a family baboons in them. The night consisted of eating dinner and drinking too much. May 15: Today started with a sun rise walk through the delta. This was the big game walk of the trip and it lasted for four hours. Withing the first hour we saw four or five elephants relatively close. We also ran across a herd of zebras and an ostrich. We returned to ...
Okavanga Delta National Park, Botswana pugsly2002... experts in poo!!!! During the days it was soooo hot, and we spent most of the middle of the days just relaxing at the campsite. We also did a sunset cruise in the mokoros and watched the sun go down on the water. (So beautiful!) But the best thing of all was at night when the ...
Okavango Delta, Botswana travelinbuskers... one of which was at 4am in the morning. It happened in Sarah & Philippa's tent, which is right next to ours! They both screamed and woke the camp up with a fright! The story was humorous in the morning. The next morning, there was another two hour game walk. Jeremy went, while Suzanne slept in. This time giraffe were spotted and the group followed them for awhile. Upon returning from the game walk, we all had breakfast and headed ...
Maun, Botswana vannhansen... evening we went on a game drive and were lucky enough to find a leopard with it's fresh kill. As we edged closer we got within 10 feet of it. This seemed like an appropriate time to drop my sunglasses out the window, but our top driver Dave rescued them - Never quite got him to respond to: "Alright Dave?" with "Alright Trig". Back at the campsite I had a restless night listening to hippos wandering about ...
