    We have reached the end of June and are now in Washington!

    This morning, we walked about Sandpoint a bit before we left. It is a quaint little town of about 7,000 people that swells with tourists to the nearby lake in the short summer season.     I drove with a couple friends to the center of the state. We stopped at a viewpoint of the Columbia river gorge and then did the flat hike to the Ancient Lakes - really pretty colorful lakes amongst the basalt coulees, complete with a waterfall.     ... way to the Waterville Historic Hotel where Dave and Amy are the proprietors and they graciously and generously offered us their deluxe 3 bedroom apartment where we were able to spread ourselves out and renew our strength. This area had originally been the hotel lobby in the early 1940's.
