87 degree temps does not encourage fall colors! However, a stop at Ben @ Jerry's eased the warm day. Crossed from VT to NY via Lake Champlain ferry ($23). The Capitol itself is very imposing (seen it before, eh Pete?) but the rest of the 'city' is looking rather run down and seedy. A lot of vacant shops and a lot of others filled with charity and secondhand stuff. You kinda get a feel that the economy is not doing so well out here.

... of fog for much of the morning. When the fog lifted, we found ourselves in Senaca Lake on NY 414. The road is beautiful and is littered with wineries, B&Bs and farm land. It is elevated approximately 1000 to 1500 feet and the view of the lake was to our left all all along the route.

We ran through a town called Lodi. If that is the Lodi that John Fogerty ...
