Time to go spot some badgers in the Dogons.. or rather Serengeti. Picked up by two 4x4's at the reasonable hour of 9am. Those in our truck were Sarah, Martin, Suzy Q, Linds, Little Kate and a disputed Jamie after sneaking in and grabbing Muzza's chair. Poor Muzza, but you gotta be quick in situations like this. If there was any moment for speed of a mongoose now was the time.. We sent him off to keep S&M company in the other truck.
Cars were really comfy, nice to be out of the tru...
... the cliff edge, they also inched along....they never made it to the water. Not because the lioness pounched and devoured, but rather because the eau de lion clearly got sky high and the zebras backed off and were saved by the arrival of a fire engine style safari bus who clunked along the road and breaked loudly.
Whilst I harbour zebras no ill will, it would have been pretty neat to watch some aMiNal action.
That said, I finished off my Big 5, seeing ...
... and feeling like I had been jolted when I looked up to see a carpet of stars above me. It was incredible and they felt so close, so large. I was in awe. The toilets of course were squat toilets and reeked. It was almost preferable to go behind the bathroom then in it. That is until you remembered that lions hunt at night and they could be hunting anywhere. I hurried back to the cage and grabbed Gabe out ...
Serengeti National Park, Tanzania claraz8... bacon. It was quite lovely! It’s funny how you miss the little things in life like a good hearty breakfast. Being I have nothing but time to kill at times in Africa, I have been working out and use every bit of downtime to do so. I do my pull-up, push-up, squat routine every few days if I can. I searched the camp for a pull-up bar and could only find some beams in a hut which was also a kitchen for the tour groups. I ...
Serengeti National Park, Tanzania travel_lover87... many giraffe and watched lions hunting gazelles. The Serengeti is very vast and hot and dry. It is hard to find shade.
We enjoyed an amazing sunset on the Serengeti and it is just hard to believe that we are here watching the silouette sof giraffes and Acaia trees. Just like watching a movie. I don't think I'll ever want to go to a zoo again.
... position. He will then mount her but within seconds they will show their teeth, growl at each other and he will dismount and lay back down. After a couple of days of this they actually get down to business and get it on. We watched for about half an hour and saw this teasing happen three times. I took some videos with my camera and tried to include one here but it just too long to ...
Serengeti National Park, Tanzania jeneggener... or sometimes a tail hanging down from a branch. This is when Ben impressed us again, by first finding a leopard in the trees. Using my zoom lens, I could see the t leopard with its legs straddled around a branch, looking quite comfortable. Ben then used the binoculars to identify the body of a gazelle that the leopard had brought up and stored on the same branch, which we then took turns looking for. To ...
Serengeti National Park, Tanzania andrewsnyc... the event whilst all the others were too busy either laughing or gagging! Tuesday 17th March - Day 27 Ngorongoro to Arusha (150km) Ngorongoro morning game drive Waking up early again we were chomping at the bit for another day of safari. Sophie held us up for a while after breakfast as the sun rose over the crater in a most beautiful way. Then we started our descent into the crater. It was steep and we were glad to be in 4x4's and not 'Songwe' the ...
Serengeti National Park, Tanzania therhodesies... to protect us from the lions or other animals.
When we arrived a group of Brits told how that in the morning a group of lions had run through the campsite after fighting with another pride. I was not really worried about this as my attitude is if it happens it happens and there is not much you can do to stop it! During the night hyenas were in our campsite trying to scavange for food and I could hear foot steps outside but could not tell what kind of animal it was ...
... begon mijn 4-daagse safari naar
Lake Manyara, de Serengeti en de Ngorongoro-krater. Heel cliché
en veelbezocht, maar met reden. Want het was weer prachtig. Elk park is
weer anders dan het andere, en ook anders dan de Masai Mara was. Qua landschap
en dieren en klimaat.
Ik was die 4 dagen met een gids, een kok en 3 andere toeristen: een Amerikaans
stel dat op zich wel aardig ...
