Custer national forrest

... like another planet...it is so majestic and beautiful. It also reminds you that there are much bigger things working in our world. After a few hours of playing we decided to go back to Columbus. We are very excited because tomorrow we are going to the cabin which is, I think just a couple of hours from here. We will be there until sunday, and then we are leaving strait from there to Glacier, and then to the trail for a few days. I will keep you posted when we return.

Were there!

When we got up at Leah and Dogan's house there was coffee already made. I got up earlier than Tripp and JAH and drank a few cups and talked with leah for a while. When we all got up and moving Leah made us lunch and we hit the road. 5t only took us about 45 min. to get to columbus and when we arrived we went to go see boo at work. After talking with her a while about things that we want to do ...

Rain, cold, the weathers gone south...

... so we have decided to spend another night here.  We can spend some time seeing Billings or go to a movie or something indoors as it isn't a fit day to do outdoor stuff.  It's supposed to be a bit better tomorrow so we'll head out in the morning.   We've had eight days of better than average weather so I guess it's time for the opposite.  I just hope it clears off so we can enjoy the amazing sights of Yellowstone..  Cross your fingers..  More later..  DLD

Is it June yet?

... Battleground, stopping at the overlooks, reading the signs that tells you what happened where (i.e. how Custer lost the 7th Calvary), and getting a bit peckish. I pull over at another viewpoint and grab a protein bar out of the back then get out of the car to check out Sniper Ridge. I'm reading the sign and looking around when I hear a boom. I turn around and don't see anything except another car going by so I think ...

Leaving Big Timber Today

From my friend, Adam, this truly fun website: Ten Best Ghost Photographs Ever! Well, I guess we are leaving today. Not good fishing, so no reason to stay. We'll go look for my waders and survey the fire damage, and then head out... Really strange incident last night. Keep in mind I spent all day in the trailer, most of it with no radio on, so if this had happened earlier in the day, I think I would have heard it, but I didn't. Shortly after ...

Fishing and PMS

... anyone who EVER abuses, for any reason, an animal or a child or anyone unable to take care of themselves, should be sent to a very special laboratory where they test on people instead of animals. I've got plenty more to say about that, but I won't. Fishing Report: 11:42am (MST): No bites... off to the 'Stone. More later. BTW, we will be here at least until Saturday. We will probably stay one more night, and leave for St. Louis on Sunday. This is a rough approximation of ...

Where's Booboo?

... but the stuff to see is there, just less trees, a lot less. We basically drove a circle around the whole thing and saw everything there is to see, with the exception of one big waterfall because the road was closed, but we'll see it again one day. That night we skipped the camping and went for a room at the next town outside of Montana called Livingston. Man the drive out the North Gate into that town was unbelievable. It ...

Close Encounters

We make a short trip to see Devil's Tower. It is worth the extra side trip.It is a very strange rock formation that just appears in the middle of nowhere, cool! We hike around the tower. We watch some of the rock climbers, then cook breakfast and head to Mt. Rushmore.

Little House to Big Sky

... had expected, it ended up being a very good experience for the girls. The homestead was as it was in the late 1800s, and a small one room schoolhouse was brought to the site from its previous location three miles down the road. The land around the site approximates what the open grasslands of the prairies looked like at the time (less than 0.1% of the Great Plains remains as it was). The homestead is a living museum, with horse rides, farming demonstrations, rope making ...

Custer's Last Stand and My Continued Van Problems

... at the hands of one of the worst military leaders our country had. If Custer had been in Vietnam he would have probably been fragged. If you look at where the men were you would realize they were sitting ducks. Custer was looking for glory and had no regard for the safety of his men and he led them into a trap. Our history books in school as I was growing up pretty much touted "manifest destiny" as god's will. I don't buy that. I read an interesting ...
