        Days One and Two, April 12 & 13, 2015

Well, it's not actually Day One of our trip as we left Kinston on Thursday, April 9 to go to Raleigh for the Spring Invitational Horse Show. When we got up Thursday morning it was raining. We both had haircuts, mine at 8:00 and Jerry’s at 9:00. We were packed except …

        Monday, April 13

Monday morning we got up, had our morning coffee and discussed where we would spend the day. We elected to head out to Cades Cove but had no idea how to get there except to head toward Gatlinburg. I couldn't find any addresses for the Visitors Center so we just headed on. We finally found a Visitors Center (by accident) …

Our last stop has been Gatlinburg, TN. We enjoyed our visit to the Dixie Stampede and Dollywood. Jim looked all over the place, high and low but never saw Dolly! We ran into the Compton's from Lexington who happened to be here too. We enjoyed having dinner together with Ben, Suzanne, Charlie and Nancy. It was nice to have friends to enjoy a meal with again.

A long day of travel but I made it! Knoxville through Chicago to Newark. I waited about an hour for Claudia to arrive but then we scouted about the airport and shared a pizza for dinner. The restaurant had bubble lights which made us think of Carolyn building her house! Plane boarding and departure were on time and we were flying across the Atlantic. I slept a little though I do not do well sleeping on planes. About 9 hours later we arrived ...

... the visitor centre is a museum and gift shop. What a great collection of antiques and an awesome gun collection. Impressive stuff especially notable the museum is free and survives on the purchases in the gift shop and donations. Worth the stop. With the heavy rain and thick fog, we opts against doing the Tail of the Dragon and chose to skirt around. This turned out to be a really nice ride through the forest into Pigeon Forge. ...
