... to trust them that they would bring us screeching to a halt over the next platform when they did not give us the sign. Then we encountered - drum role - the Tarzan swing. We each took a turn getting harnessed to two thick ropes, balancing precariously on the edge of a platform, plummeting fifteen feet in adrenaline pumping free-fall, and finally swinging through jungle like the ape man himself. Amanda will post videos soon! The final zipline was over a 100 meters long and we had to ...

... things, much more than I had imagined we would encounter on a dark and sodden night. Among the more impressive and unusual things that we saw were a venomous Palm Pitviper hanging menacingly from a low lying branch, a tarantula sheltering from the downpour in a fallen bamboo, a ginormous stick insect that was a good foot if it was an inch from top to tail, a fungus that glowed in the dark, some two-fingered sloths (including a mother and a baby ...

... to the restaurant we went to the previous night (´The Treehouse´ which has a fully grown tree in the middle of the restaurant) for a drink. In the evening we ate the pasta meal that Ellie and Rachael made (Rachael claims to have cooked but I think she just supervised) and got to know a few people staying in the hostel, including a Spurs fan who used to stand on the shelf (I told him about my roots!) and a typically drunken Irishman who we had the same conversation ...

... about 50 different kinds of snakes from Costa Rica, including about 20 venomous ones. Keli even held a boa. The next morning, we took a hiking tour of the Cloud Forest with a guide and about 8 other people. The guide was very animated and a huge bird lover and wildlife lover in general, so even though Dave ...

... enough of everything he was saying to fully get the details. On Saturday we went on one of the highly acclaimed ziplining canopy tours, where you are harnessed onto cables that are attached between numerous tall trees in the forest. The tallest was something around 280 feet high, with the cable length about half of a mile. They also had cables that you could jump free fall and do a Tarzan style swing in the middle of the air. I wasn't up for that ...

... volcano, so only 25% of it is protected. The rest is private property. Once we are able to find our way to the correct rendez´ vous we meet up with Miguel (so bloody helpful) who took us back around to the green side. We stopped abruptly in a parking lot as the summit was momentarily clear so we could take pictures. Miguel disappeared and returned with binoculars. He´d also checked on the cost of lunch where we stopped ...
