Santa Elena, Costa Rica duke_scheweI'm rather behind on these updates by now - guess proper update will wait untili get home. Anyway, to pick up where I left off, I did some white water rafting the other day in arenal. It was so much fun! It wasn't too hard and the guides were great. I went with s fun group of people too - might even get some pictures to share.... Since my food just came, I'm gonna have to make the rest a bit brief. Anyway, took the jeep-boat-jeep from la fortina. Met some interesting people that u hooked up w...
Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve, Province of Puntarenas, Costa Rica eobrie16... neblig und seeeehr feucht!
... mountains. We caught a bus from Cobano to the ferry, took the ferry
across the Gulfo de Nicoya, then caught a bus from Puntarenas to Santa
Elena. All in all it took about 11 ...
... save for a few birds and the tiniest lizard ever, but it was a serene 4 hour journey. We hiked up to La Ventana, which on a clear day provides a view of the Continental Divide and a view of both the Pacific and the Caribbean Oceans. We had to use our imagination as we found ourselves trapped inside a cloud! It was still a cool experience regardless. Afterward, we hiked down to a suspension bridge that spanned over the canopy (basically above most of the tree tops). I'm not sure how ...
Santa Elena, Province of Puntarenas, Costa Rica jeridolp... white testicles on the alpha male), and, perhaps most entertaining, a Peccary pig named Charlie, who is something of a pet at the reservation. Charlie took an immediate liking to me, apparently because he enjoys the smell (and taste!) of the bug spray with which I doused my bare ankles, and followed us around the entire tour. It got old after about ten minutes, especially when he came back to lick me and burrow between my knees after rolling in the mud ...
Santa Elena, Costa Rica espriseme... she was literally drenched head to toe!! I took a quick nap later in the afternoon to find that it was still raining cats and dogs. I heard the roads were closed but confirmed with the owner that it wasn't actually. I really hope this rain stops cuz I want to go to a restaurant to get food. I'm sitting here wearing a long sleeved shirt and jeans. never thought I would be doing this in costa rica! at around 8:30 pm ...
Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve, Costa Rica oldhongerlady... terminals are certain that the buses go thought Monteverde (our actual desination), but they donīt. We got off the bus (really had no say in this location...) at the side of the road infront of this steel yard pretty much in the middle of no where and then tried hitchhiking, but nobody trusted us whiteys all that much and would swerve as far away from us as possible. Eventually we got a cab (luckily it was 9pm) and stayed the night in a ...
La Fortuna, Costa Rica nikolassarah... picked up for our hike up the volcano. Our guide was the friendliest man alive. we were driven to the base, and he walked us for an hour or two thru the jungle, naming anything and everything along the way. "Friends!" he would call out, "Come see!". and then he would tell us in detail why this nut was particularily amazing to the ecology of the white-face monkey and how the jungle would die without it. "Friends!" he would whisper, "did you hear that?". silence. "I ...
La Fortuna, Costa Rica travel.junkie... see if we can get a closer look at the volcano. 3.21 5:24 PM We just got back from the rafting trip. It was well worth the money we paid for it. The spot we chose was the Rio Toro, or "Bull River," so take from that what you want. Our guides said the water is down a bit due to the lack of recent rain, but the rapids were still very challenging and lots of fun. It was basically a 3 hour paddle through lush rainforest. We didnīt ...
