... today and read and tried, unsuccessfully, to nap! Early evening brought welcome overcast skies! Still warm, but a bit of a reprieve. Around 10 pm someone outside either shoot a gun or large firecracker, very close to our house---and Elly came in like a shot, looking scared and ran to my lap! 2 more shots and it was over, whatever it was. For my supper I fixed a tortilla with 3 cheeses, chopped tomato, chopped ham and salsa. Good!

... there before the eruption. There is also a lake on the left hand side called spirit lake. This was there before the eruption but it now has double its surface area and is 65 feet higher due to the eruption feeding into the lake. It is amazing to see photos the day before the eruption and look at the scene now. The trees which were felled by the eruption still lie there. It is as if someone scraped the earth clean. So we headed for Seattle. More ...

... we head off, we go for a walk to the Latourell falls to check them out. Lavinia and I came here 8 years ago when travelling for our honeymoon, so it is nice to be back here again with the kids! After the stroll to the waterfall and back, we keep driving along the historic highway and past the other waterfalls along the gorge. It really is spectacular scenery through here. ... the I-5 again!), we pulled into Fidalgo Bay RV Park in Anacortes, had our beloved KD and wiener "last supper", and toasted to the end of this excellent trip with a bottle champagne! On the Anacortes to Sidney ferry ride home in the morning we reflected on how much we love travelling in our trailer, especially to one of our favourite states, Oregon!
