We drove west from Adelaide up towards Port Augusta thinking we would free camp somewhere. The first place had stopped allowing free camping..Redhill. Looked an interesting town as well. So we carried on. Well, we stopped at a camp where there was a huge shed with brand new amenities, was full of young, low grown gum trees and we almost got stuck …

We just had to do it, another purchase for our trip. Yes, we've now added a perception two person sit-on kayak to all of the other stuff. Its been kitted out with two rear facing and four forward facing rod holders and also has an anchor setup. We should have lots of fun with this, whether just out for a paddle or for a fish. Probably not shark or …

Heading north

We are about to embark on the epic journey north along the Stuart Highway. I once saw a Wedge-Tailed Eagle crash into a sick and stumbling lamb with enough force to break its vertebrae. This road was also a backbone; It was the spine of the nation - and link between north and south through the arid interior of the island continent. It was named …

Warmer weather in the north :)

We drove up the highway to Port Augusta this morning and now we are as far north as we will be for the rest of the trip. This has coincided with some warmer weather again too.

Tonight is our 151st night on the trip!

We went to the Info Centre in Port Augusta then spent the rest of the morning going through the Wadlata Outback …

Von Ceduna nach Port Augusta

15.08. Ceduna – Poochera

You park from alternating sides of the road so you end up looking at your neighbours car! Noisy road and even when the park isn't busy they pack you all in one area. Weird!

All was fine except that the parking areas were dirt, so if wet then it is muddy.

    Comfortable spot just through town

Friendly staff (2 very efficient and knowledgable women). Has all the facilities you could want. Service station next door. Located 1-2km from town centre (over the bridge). The hotel next door (about 300 metres walk) has very good food, although fairly pricey. Don't take the kids! It is possible to stumble over there in the dark, just watch out for the prickles in the grass if you decide to go cross-country!!
