    ... Went for a drive in the afternoon to see the old cheese factory run by John and Eva Kriewaldt. went to a number of cemeteries and took pictures of headstones. Will need time to work out where they all fit in.

    Today Sunday we are all off to Upper Peninsular (UP) for a couple of day. May not have internet and probably no phone. we have no mobile phone here as At&T is not received.

    ... Many older homes were narrow, long and high. Copper Harbor, Michigan's most northerly point on the lake, shows off a beautiful lighthouse, but not accessible.     After four hundred miles and about seven hours of driving we landed in Mosinee, WI. This park is like no other we've camped in! Being Labor Day weekend the 400 site campground is packed; there is a DJ at the pavilion about 300 feet from us! kids on bikes everywhere, golf carts zipping around, lots of beers being consumed and did I mention, we are next to the main road and boat ...

    ... raincoat (in her bag!) and back to car. About 5.30 got to end of reservation and immediately saw a bar with signs for rafting -- and accomodation!! So we bailed out and booked kingsize motel room overlooking bend in Wolf with rapids -- for $50 -- and had very pleasant night. Food in bar for 30 -- chicken and steak sandwiches, two beers for me and coffee for Anna.

    Got to Keshena and confirmed 2PM appointment with Dean of Nursing at Menominee College.

    Located clinic and then went back to Shawano to get alcohol for stove. Long long road (Green Bay Rd) of strip malls and big Qualheim at end (past fairgrounds). Satnav got us back to Keshena ...
