... has a racecourse and an annual Western show which is famous for its chuck wagons, apparently they come from all over with a big money prize for the best food - explains all the hotels. We then set off for the White sands national park but got diverted to the Apache reservation, not the usual image of one, it's beautiful with hills and forest and some snow around too. A nice 25 mile drive through and we decide to go to their Inn of the Mountain ...

After dinner we came back "home" and now Bob is sleeping on the couch while COPS plays on the TV and I am finishing up this blog.

Did not take any pictures today since we didn't go anywhere. Tomorrow the plan is to drive UP to Cloudcroft, hopefully it won't rain tomorrow. It's supposed to rain tonight, but so far nothing.

Hope everyone has a good day ...

Before we went to bed, I raised the foot of the recliner and put a clean, dry towel down, then his morning, the towel was wet! Not sure if it's running down the side, hitting the rail and coming in or what, but we'll do it again ...

Ever heard of the LINCOLN COUNTY WARS? Well that is where we went today. Back in the 1800s there existed a village know as La Placita. This was the largest of several Hispanic villages situated in the heart of Mescalero Apache country. In 1855 Fort Stanton (which we have already visited and I wrote about) was built nearby (about 13 miles). Not sure when it became Lincoln, but the town today is as it was in the 1880s. Lincoln lost it's county seat status in 1910 when Carrizozo ...
