Sand and Cinema

If we pitch a tent, it rains. We pitched a tent; thus, when we woke up this morning, it was raining. Ipso facto. We went out to breakfast. (Tim commented that any more there doesn't seem to be a reason even to bring breakfast food with us.) We found Joe’s Friendly Tavern in Empire (the only gig in town, apparently), and Tim ate oatmeal cherry …

It Ain't a Lake Visit Without a Ride on the Lake

A travel blog entry by cphenly

No point in going to a lake without getting in it or on it at least once, so we took a three-hour tour up the coast to the Sleeping Bear Dune. We broke the drive up with a very nice visit with Jim and Sara Corson, who are just beginning post-doctoral work at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. We ate at a very nice restaurant …

It was much farther than what I normally planned to drive in a day, so my initial plan was to drive about 250 miles into the evening, stop at a Walmart at about 11pm to …

One of the most beautiful places in America!

A travel blog entry by happytrails123

... America's choice of "The Most Beautiful Place in America" and voted one of America's Top 10 Family Destinations by Family Fun Magazine-2012. Austin & Cory had a blast running up and down the various sand dunes we stopped at while touring the Park. We stopped for dinner out and then headed home. Plans were made to conquer the 450' sand dune run tomorrow. It stays light so late, it’s hard to get to bed much before 11 PM!
