We left highlands, TX (a suburb of Houston) this morning about 9:30. The forecast was for a sunny day, but windy! There were wind gusts of 30-40 mph forecast, so that meant I would probably be driving. I knew I was driving through Houston but the plan was to switch drivers once we were out of the Houston area!

... we saw our first rattlesnake ever! Up close and personal. In the middle of the fairway was a grassy mound, my ball landed to the left of the mound in the fairway, Bill was on the right side of the fairway, so he just walked over to his ball. When I came up to may ball, whoa, I saw this big, long rattlesnake sprawled out in the fairway. I parked the cart between us and hit my ball. I called Bill over and he said that he wasn’t coming anywhere near me -- LOL. ...

It was very crowded so I suggested that we return to the campground and go to the beach area where it hopefully would be less crowded, so I called Bob to pick us up and we started walking to the rendezvous area. We walked on one of the boardwalks which led to a hotel area. As we walked to the entrance road, I spotted a security guard and asked him the way out to the road. All he was interested ...

After lunch we drove down the beach a bit. This weekend is SANDFEST and we wanted to see what we could, which was nothing! We will be going back tomorrow along with the couple of thousand others who will probably be here. Bob will not be thrilled, but if he doesn't want to go he doesn't have to, we'll see.
