We left Canandaigua and continued east toward Utica. We arrived in Herkimer late in the afternoon on Friday the 13th. So far no bad luck to speak of (of course, Sheryl never expects bad luck on a Friday the 13th since Thomas was born on one!).

A little side note for you fellow model railroaders. It seems Canandaigua was where John Armstrong was born and raised, hence the name for one of his famous layouts, the Canandaigua Southern.

... of the towns seem to be struggling former factory towns. This town seems to be transitioning better than the others to a tourist town. Tomorrow we will do some more touring of the town and decide on our next destination. We are so lucky to be able to do what we're doing!
