Then later Faith and Diedra gave us tickets to see --- up CLOSE --- Toshi Regan and Annie DiFranco. Wonderful show!!! So unexpected. We felt very pampered.

I love doing things like that but the thought of spending the next 8 hours in the car soaking wet was not appealing. The road towards Santa Fe was unreal, just mountains as far as the eye could see of clay like road with the odd patch of green. Tried to take some photos but look rubbish compared to what it really was. ...

... is the Goldfield Mining Town. We've stopped here on previous trips so bypassed it this time. This is a re-created old west ghost town. There is a mine tour, shops, a restaurant and a narrow gauge train. We haven't done anything other than the restaurant but would like to spend more time there some day.

We drove past Canyon Lake. I must say it's a bit odd to see this big beautiful blue lake in the middle of the dessert. It's not everyday ...

... only for her to drop them again. She is absolutely precious and we were so happy to see her again. Sadly, the separation anxiety is pretty strong at this age so the feeling wasn't real mutual. That's ok; we still got to enjoy her and spend a bit of time with her - and her parents of course!

We left the grandparents there to enjoy more time with family as we headed to the Boulder Dinner Theater to see Church Basement Ladies. ...
