... couple of road signs that said 'Thickly Settled', which I was mystified by (are they talking about my waistline?) It turns out that it means densely populated and you must not drive more than 30 mph. Who knew?
The end of the day brought us to Mystic, CT. We walked around a bit as the sun was going down, catching some beautiful light and chatting with a road-tripping couple from Seattle. They have a motorhome and are spending a year on the road. I'm envious.

After breakfast Sunday morning at the Sheraton we enjoyed a pleasant drive out of New York City and camped in Mystic, Connecticut. It's getting a little chilly in the tent but we are now on our way to another campground in Massachusetts and at least one more night in the tent - but we will have another big campfire tonight!
... now it is a barge pulled by a tugboat. Very interesting to watch the coming and going of the cars - three at a time. It is actually part of Rte 160. There was a continuous line of cars waiting to cross. Then it was off to dinner. It was nice to have a pretty relaxing day and we tried to watch the Royals game but only made it through the 6th inning - we are an hour later than home so that's our excuse. ... s over. Done. I swallowed those emotions as I drove out of town early this morning. No time for lamenting, for in just a day and a half I fly out of New York City for Florence, Italy, where the next part of my life begins. I prefer to call it the "next book of my life," rather than the "next chapter." I don't know. Seems more legitimate.
