... the distance was the amazing Hearst Castle, staring out over the ocean. We finally arrived at our Hotel in Pismo Beach - the Cottage by the Sea, which was delightful and a sight to see after so much driving. ... Beach where we were staying at the Dolphin Bay Resort. We were given a huge, lovely suite. We headed out to the pool, located in a perfect spot overlooking the ocean. The pool temperature was well over 80 F, much to the kids delight and approval. The hot tub was similarly hot, which was great if you like to be gently poached at the end of the day.

We ate in the hotel at the Lido restaurant before heading to bed for some well needed sleep before Benjamin's birthday ...
