Today the car didn't leave the hotel parking lot! We found a nice hotel - The Southernmost Hotel - located at the end of Duvall and South Street. We decided to walk the 1.8 miles through town to get to the marina where the Yankee Freedom was waiting to take us the 70 miles to the most isolated National Park - Fort Jefferson within the Dry Tortugas NP. Florida, the Everglades, and Key West! It was an excellent day and it was almost surreal finally reaching Key West after all these days of driving and wonderful sights. First the Everglades. Not a swamp, but a very wide, slow moving river. Dropping about 14 feet over several 100 miles. It is the only place where both crocodiles and alligators live in the same environment. ...

After a last minute glitch with the RV back-up camera requiring a stop by McGeorge's, we headed off from the dreary land of Richmond to sunny Florida, stopping at Fayetteville KOA (uneventful) to St. James Island County Park in Charleston (wonderful), and finally to St. Augustine (Bryn Mayr Ocean Resort).
