    Drove 2 hours the LA area. Briefly stopped in Hollywood to see the "Hollywood" sign and to walk along the "walk of fame." From there, we drove down Sunset Boulevard and then around Beverly hills looking for big houses. We saw lots of houses built into the hills, but had no idea whose they were.     ... picked us up for dinner in Newport. Larry and I are two months apart, and spent childhood summers together. We walked out to the beach to watch sunset, along the harbor. The weather was great - Catalina Island was crystal clear, which apparently seldom happens. Water temperature cold. Had a wonderful dinner at Gulfstream. Our first earthquake, 4.4, near Fontana. Guess we slept through it.
