Thru the Mississippi darkness rolling to the sea

Our path to New Orleans began in Natchez simply by picking up the old 61 Highway again and heading for Baton Rouge. If one takes the Interstate there is a toll to get into New Orleans; it's free to get out, but one has to pay to get in. That is, of course, unless you take the olde road, 61. As we was heading in I started thinking about the 1973 …

The Big Easy: New Orleans

And finally. ..onto New Orleans or N'awlins as the locals say. What. A. City. The only negative points about our ohsoshort stay in the jazz capital of the world was a. the weather (sweaty and rainy) b. the campground seemed to be in the middle of the ghetto which we inadvisably went for a walk through one afternoon. No trouble, a few trucks slowed …

we only had two full days in new Orleans. the day we arrived we did have time to drive St Charles street, which is full of lovely homes, and explore Magazine Street on our way to Whole Foods to stock up on eats. the first full day we went to the French quarter and started our day with beignets and coffee. we took one of those horse and buggy rides …

2-17-2014 MARDI GRAS 2014 ...KOA West - New Orleans, 5 nights
The warmer temps and humidity hit us…making us feel road weary and lazy (who’s grumpy?). We couldn’t get into shorts and sandals fast enough! Our first day walking around the French Quarter was a bit of a disappointment - really poor maintenance everywhere. Tho, we …

Nice stay in the Big Easy

This being our first trip to New Orleans we did know what to expect. The staff here showed us where to go to see the parades. We parked at the start of the parade route and saw 2 and a half parades before we were soaked and loaded with beads. After drying out we had a nice dinner at Dot's Diner. We are taking the shuttle to the French Quarter and Bourbon Street today.

Nice but wet

The facility was very nice for a campground. Clean bathrooms, quiet at night, all the hookups you need. The only complaint I would have about the facility itself is that the tent sites need to have more grass on them. We basically had to set up camp on dirt because our patch of grass was tiny. Other than that it was fine.

The campground is very clean and well kept. The people are super friendly and the sites are nice and flat. Wish it were a little closer to New Orleans but would definitely stay again.
