Nice but wet

The facility was very nice for a campground. Clean bathrooms, quiet at night, all the hookups you need. The only complaint I would have about the facility itself is that the tent sites need to have more grass on them. We basically had to set up camp on dirt because our patch of grass was tiny. Other than that it was fine.

The campground is very clean and well kept. The people are super friendly and the sites are nice and flat. Wish it were a little closer to New Orleans but would definitely stay again.

We head off from Dauphin Island about 10am. Today is a 4 1/2hr drive (Approx 166 miles).

First stop, Bellingrath Garden and Home, Theodore, Alabama. A 65-acre (26 ha) botanical garden and mansion that was built in 1935. The house is 10,500 square feet and is still complete with original furnishings and art. Mr Walter Bellingrath made his …

Hi y'all,
Wednesday we decide to go check out some of the plantations. First stop Destrehan Plantation. It was heritage day here, which meant it was open to the local schools. They made it sound appealing by telling us that this meant there was a lot more going on in way of demonstrations of how things where done and made. The tour would take …

Hello from New Orleans, the Big Easy. Well, if you read the title, you will see what I mean so read on.

Last night we found a spot at a local Walmart in Baton Rouge. We parked alongside of an IHOP that was in the parking lot since this Walmart did not have an RV friendly parking lot. Most of the ones we have encountered have looooong rows …

Yiihaa - let's go to the swamps!

And finally...onto New Orleans or "N'awlins" as the locals say. What. A. City. The only negative points about our oh-so-short stay in the jazz capital of the world was:
a. The weather - sweaty and rainy
b. The campground. It appeared to be in the middle of a rather poor part of New Orleans, aka the ghetto. One day we inadvisably went for a …
