... Cuban feel to it – it was a little more gritty than some of the other towns of Mexico, and the atmosphere a little different. I also noticed that pretty much everyone here was overweight – like really overweight. Extremely disappointing for a beach town, but don’t think the gene pool is too strong in Veracruz… I don’t think I saw a single person that I found attractive in the few hours I did spend walking round there.

... for a couple of sit in's and a tandem, which was occupied by the kayak guide and birding guide. I decided to stick close to the birding guide in case he pointed out any notable species. As it turned out, his specialty was birding and not paddling, and they were so slow and way behind the pack.

The drive home from Philly was horrendous since it was rush hour. I was so glad to get home in one piece after that drive. I have to say I'd much rather have stayed in Mexico than return to this freezing weather.
Things Learned on Day 9:

Tomorrow we're going to the capital of Veracruz to meet with the governor. It's about 1 1/2 hour drive! Aye carumba! But it will be an amazing opportunity!
