Cool caves, amazing roads

A travel blog entry by nacrobat

I sorely wanted to head south, it's getting cold and I want to go where there's sunshine and heat. But I was in Tennessee, right beside Arkansas and the famed Ozark mountains, home to some of the best roads to ride in the US. How can I not go? It was close though. I looked at the dismal forecast for the upcoming few days though, bit of rain, maybe flurries and a whole lot of cold. South was looking gooooood. But ...

Over the River and Through the Woods (Really!)

We drove from Mountain Home to Mountain View, AR to visit the Ozark Folk Center State Park. About a 50 mile trip both ways. But on Arkansas roads it was a pleasure. Beautiful drive on hilly 2 lane roads past cattle farms and horse farms and wide green pastures. We had a beautiful day weather wise too - 75 degrees and sunshine and a nice breeze. Luckily, we were able to follow the cook truck the whole way so we didn't have to bother following ...

Steve hooked us up with ringside guest passes for the second show at 7:30pm...we were front row for everything. Believe me when I say (and it's not just because John's now employed by Kelly Miller) this is the BEST circus show I've seen yet. I've loved the other ones we've seen in the past and I'm not taking anything away from those, but this one was my kind of circus...clowns, tiger act, zebra act, ...

... water. We also see bats and experience "total darkness". After the cave tour we do a little hiking in the surrounding park. We see waterfalls, snakes and lizzards. Sometime along the journey I lose my glasses, but seeing these sights is worth it. Check out the pictures.
