Mission Beach - it's anything but a mission !!!

We loved loved loved Mission Beach. A fantastic place to relax and unwind. We had some friends to visit here from Paul's desert rose group. There were two bonuses here:
(1) we had home made sweet potato scallops from the little purple café in Bingil Bay - absolutely scrummylitious.
(2) We got to see a cassowary as we were leaving our stay …

31st July Wednesday.
We were awake early. The morning traffic had commenced. The cars were OK, it was the trucks that were the noise makers.

Pack up didn't take long so we chatted with Colin & Irene for about an hour. They were heading south like us, but they will be home early September. Still it was good to catch up and have a …

We arrived at Mission Beach on Monday Nov 4. It's now Sunday Nov 17. Between then and now we've been a tad busy ... well, busy for us that is! Ace had surgery on his foot on Melbourne Cup Day, Tuesday Nov 5 at Cairns Base Hospital. It felt like we' …

Yesterday we took a slow drive up to Mission Beach from Balgal Beach, taking about 4 hours by the time we arrived. We noticed especially that the further up you come, the greener and lusher everything becomes. We stopped of off at McDonalds in Ingham, but didn't do anything there. Theres mot really much to do, especially with a dog. Theres the Tyto …

Wednesday 31st July.
We picked up our two year passes and Dave and Lynne said goodbye to their old neighbours then we headed off to Kurrimime Beach about 40k's away. It was a beautiful area and we tried two caravan parks but they were both full. We then decided to go to Mission Beach. On reaching Mission Beach we only managed to secure one …

Great location

Great location, just across the road from the beach. Clean amenities, well kept gardens, a lovely big pool and a chill out area with a pool table. I think a little on the pricey side- $39 per night for a powered site, but cant complain. They take pets on application and are quite strict about whats allowed and whats not. Fair enough really.

Hideaway A Happy Place To Hideaway!

Located in a great position, smack bang in the middle of Mission. Over the road to the stunning beach and just down the street to the friendly shopping village. The park is fairly large and, at this time of year, not busy at all. Great timing for us! On two sides it abuts beautiful rainforest so there's lots of birdlife to appreciate. The amenities are terrific, with "waterfall" style high, large shower heads with good pressure. Overall the grounds are very well cared for ... perhaps the swimming pool could do with a little TLC. Temporary caretakers, Anne & Bill, have made us (and the kids) feel most welcome and we're enjoying our (6 week) stay enormously.

We absolutely loved Mission Beach, was one of our favourite placed on this trip. A nice relaxing spot to get away from it all and unwind. The caravan was nice and grassy with clean amenities and a really nice swimming pool.
