Mew Lake Campground Algonquin Park

... groesseren Probleme gab.
Auch der Damm war eher ein kleines Problem, aber es hat sich definitiv gelohnt die empfohlenen Vorkehrungen zu treffen, da ich tatsaechlich ins Wasser  steigen musste um unser Kanu anzuschieben...

Nach weiterem Paddel und Sichtung eines Graureihers oder so, sind wir dann am spaeten Nachmittag wieder am Portage Store angekommen und haben all den geliehenen Kram zurueckgegeben, gegebenebnfalls frische und trockene Klamotten angezogen ...

... sehr gehofft hatten. Bei d** Stille konnte man gar nicht glauben, dass fast 60 Leute in d** Bucht ihr Lag** aufgeschlagen hatten! Ploetzlich ging das das Geschrei los, als einige Gruppen anfingen zu baden und das Wass** war doch recht kalt, sodass es ganz schoen laut wurde. ;-)

Zurueck in uns**em eigenen Lag** war dann afst alles f**tig h**g**ichtet und alle waren g**ade auf dem Weg Holz zu holen. Also gings los uns Alec hat uns auch noch ein bisschen was wissenw**tes zu Holz ...

... auf d** kleinen Erde. Und ein paar St**nschnuppen gabs auch zu sehen!

Nach einem kleinen Gruppentreffen in uns**en Kleingruppen gabs dann heissen Tee und nach ein** weit**en Runde Lag**feu** sind wir auch recht frueh ins Bett gegangen umd frisch in ein spannendes Wochenende zu starten. 
(Das mit dem ausg**uht hat nicht ganz funktioni**t, da zumindest mein Zmm** (Lucie, Christina und Ich) schlecht geschlafen hat..)

 

... the front providing the power (and the patronising comments too). Once we got the hang of it we had a smoothish journey, which was so quiet and wonderful on a crisp sunnny day, and we stayed dry!!!

The nature count was poor though, 1 otter, 1 heron and a toad. But we live in hope of seeing beaver, moose and bears soon. We have seen many raccoons, sadly all dead on the side of the road.

Well time to hit the road.

Wir fuhren Richtung Algonquin Provincial Park, welcher auf unserem Weg Richtung Ottawa liegt.

Eine kurze Wanderung, welche in unserem Reiseführer empfohlen wurde, brachte uns zu Stromschnellen. Wir mussten allerdings zweimal hinschauen, denn so gross waren die nun auch wieder nicht.

Am späteren Nachmittag sind wir dann in unserem Campingplatz angekommen und haben es uns gemütlich gemacht.

... with no escape for either them or us. To be within 8 feet of these large animals is a little scary, fortunately for us we are kiwis and completely ignorant, and we stood very still and couldn't believe how close they came. an amazing   experience. we did wonder if the animals were in fact college students dressed up as animals and hired by the park but decided that upon close examination that was most unlikely!!!!

here we were contemplating the current collapse of the economy along with our ever diminishing budget, but at least we made some plans for the next stage........ algonquin park we hired another car to travel to a 7800sq km forest with cliff top views, streams and lakes. it was a beautiful area wich we stayed in overnight on one of the many lake side camping grounds. sleep was more awkward in this car but it was nice to wake up at dawn to see and capture the mist rising ...

... to the biggest rapid on the river - 'The Greyhound Bus Eater'. The odds were 50/50 of being thrown from the boat. The first boat went through successfully. We however, did not. At one point we were vertical and I stupidly thought we'd make it but instead found myself submerged! We do have classic DVD footage of the event for anyone who'd like to see it. We ended the day with a much needed big BBQ meal. On Sa ...

... such a nice place to spend time and relax ! There are also small island where nobody lives. It is fun to have a break, during the canoo time, and stay a few minutes on an island.

For the final walk, we saw a howsome sunset on the top of a hill. In front os us, just nature : trees, lake, hills and the sun that gone away. It was magic !
