... crab I have ever seen, they call them Channel grabber crabs or king crabs because they hang on the reef in nooks and crannies. Its legs were at least 1 foot long and a claw that would have made a meal if it was a blue crab (where’s the old bay & drawn butter?). 45 minutes down and the funs is over, I am low ...

Relaxing in Roatan

... power goes out (more about that later) the water inc toilet stops, the bed slopes so badly one of us (usually Myk) ends up crushing me, the toilet leaks and we get there via an alley of barking dogs. Still its cosy and home and most importantly cheap. And there’s aircon in the bedroom and hot water when it works which is comparatively luxurious.

The course is hard, although we dive every day we have to pass ...

The airport security takes pity on us and and drives us to an inexpensive hotel in the town. Its pretty horrid and we find ourselves blocking the door when we sleep and keeping our clothes up high to avoid cockroaches.

Day 3 was our first two Open Water Dives. There is a morning boat and an afternoon boat that goes out every day at Alton’s, a mix of people doing their Open Water Courses like us, people assisting as part of their Divemaster Course or people doing fun dives.

Once we made it to Honduras...

... pass 98.4 pass oh, wait, pull that one aside for further questioning. Oh ya, and the aforementioned health questionnaire... who the hell are you to ask me if I've spent the night with a wheezing Mexican prostitute after an undercooked dinner of pork ribs wrapped in bacon and topped with 3 day old hollandaise sauce?? I mean really - hello - what do you care anyway? My contention is that you don't care, you're just doing your job, I get that, but did ...

... deal on from a nice Austrian couple on the internet. The second week we stayed in West End, the main tourist town where all the dive shops and bars are, in a lovely hotel the Casa del Sol run by Sarah, a Canadian who taught Lucy to dive 10 years ago. We did 5 dives in total, I did the deep dive module of the Advanced course so we could dive the wreck of the Aguila, one of the most popular sites on Roatan. The best was the ...

Life Returns to Normal

It is time for a new entry. My last posting was full of pictures of severely injured people (me being one of them) and smashed vehicles - I want to let you know that 'Life has returned to normal'. With the help and support from my husband Dave and our good friends here on the Island of Roatan. I, Bonnie and Sarah have recovered from the majority of our injuries. There will be a few life long scars on my leg but they ...

The Bay Islands

... snorkling for the day for $5. It was lots of fun- never been before! Rented scooters and scooted around the island. That was awesome to see the landscape of the bay islands, to be able to see rolling hills and the big blue ocean on both sides... breath-taking! And the fact that I was on a REAL pirate island where Captain Morgan ACTUALLY lived... PRICELESS!!!!!
