We are so lucky to have friends that invite us to ski at Waterville Valley. It's a really nice family focused resort about a 5 hour drive from New Canaan. The kids get on well and know the resort so well now that they ski or snow board together and then meet up with their slower parents at lunch or the end of the day.

On one of our drives we stopped in the town of Conway and took a train ride. Honey was like a little boy when he saw a steam engine heading into the station. He was quickly disappointed when he found out it was not our tour. We had a plain ole diesel locomotive. It was not the best route through the area that we could have gone on (in hindsight) but I did get a few fun pictures from it. I also enjoyed the old rail car that we were ...

... of snow ! Relaxed back at motel for a couple of hours and dad got a new friend .....barbie the cat ! Walked along road to recommended local diner for tea ......must have walked thru a time warp without realising ! Thought I was going to get put out for laughing ! Waitress asked if we were with the saga group ? Excuse me , do I look like I'm with saga ? ( maybe I shouldn't ask that ! ) Back in motel and yes u guessed it early night as up early to " hit the open road " in morning ...

... than VT? I'm not sure yet. I'd hoped to stay a couple of days at Lake Winnipesaukee, but it's too touristy for our tastes. I'd wanted to canoe, but would probably have gotten run over by a tour boat, with tourists snapping pictures all the while. Tomorrow we'll head up through the White Mountains (there's a difference, VTs are Green) and hike for a couple of days. ...

... we don't have the power cord to our nice camera - we're stuck with a cell phone picture.

This bald eagle is actually a juvenile, and doesn't have the white head yet. We expect that next year, he'll be about 5 years old and have his white head.
