Today I decided after a couple light rain showers that sound like downpours inside a tent and Brian waking me up because he thought there was a bear (I think it was the neighbor snoring, he thought it was the bathroom door), and our air mattress decided to stretch....not loose air, but stretch, that I'd sleep in. It was the most uncomfortable night …

Day 21: Geyserville

This morning we break camp and head to Madison Campground to the west. Along the way, we visited what I have called "Geyserville" (not sure what it's official name is), where Old Faithful and numerous other geysers and hot springs are located. We waited for about 20min for Old Faithful to erupt, before setting out to view a large eruption at Grand …

Slept in late - yes! We needed it. After buying some more serious strength mosquito repellant for serious strength mosquitoes, we headed north out of Grand Teton NP, and almost immediately into Yellowstone NP at the south entrance, where of course more fees were due. Actually, I don't want to sound like we're complaining. The facilities and ranger …

Geysers and real wildlife

A travel blog entry by followusaround on Sep 26, 2013

Imagine a free for all wildlife playground, ( cough cough) i mean sanctuary. Yellowstone is the exception to a restriction of human responsibility. Experiencing yellowstone is like being a child on miss Frizzles magic school bus. It's half magic and half reality and you are always left wondering which is which. Bison roam their lands unaffected by …

Yellowstone, Day 1

Today was the first rainy day of my trip! One rainy day in four weeks is hardly something to complain about. The day got off to a bumpy start: I wanted to stop at Wal-Mart for a few supplies before I got to Yellowstone, but weather, road construction, a confused GPS and a really cranky driver (that would be me) created the perfect storm of …

our site was in the sun, in an RV loop, so not as posh as our other campground choice, also, no showers or stores within an hour drive.

The facilities were clean, and nice to use. The only bummer was no hot water, no shower facilities - which limited how long we could stay here. After a long bike ride through the park all I wanted was a hot shower. The tap water in the bathrooms is also freezing cold, however bathrooms were cleaned every day and had a heater so the air was at least warm.
No power to campsites, no internet...and no cell reception made it hard to keep up with writing to the blog :)
    Staff were friendly.

No Showers But Awesome Ranger Talk

This is a low 4 star rating. The campground is near a river that makes a pretty walk. Our campsite was nice and convenient to the bathroom. But not having showers on site is a drawback. The evening ranger talk was really great, so I have to rate this camp better than average. The topic was "wolves" and the woman ranger had alot of interesting information.
