Day 43 Washington State Today we woke to an overcast day and a little chilly, not too bad. Time to have the Castle Serviced, First booking we could obtain was for Friday, not really suitable, but we took the booking because we didn't want to take on the trip to Anchorage without a service. Earnie looked at the map going forward and suggested attempting to find another service centre, We found one that was very helpful but couldn't assist us because the Castle was too big for them, the service...
Lynden, Washington, United States popusa2008Day 77 Vancouver airport to Lynden Washington State USA to LA being an international flight, she had to be at the airport 3 hours before boarding, this related to being at the airport at 9:30am then fly at 12:30 to wait 5 hours for the connection to Sydney leaving at 11:30pm on Wednesday and arriving on Friday morning early am. The trip to the airport was interesting in itself, because yesterday we had noticed signs to the airport along the same road we took to the ferry terminal, having foun...
Lynden, Washington, United States popusa2008... smooth. At the bottom there is a foot bridge back across the river allowing great views of the rapids and fishways. One side of the river is the Cascade Mountains and the other side is the Pacific (Coastal) Mountains. The river here is following the fault line of the two great tectonic plates. When the Canadian Pacific Railroad was being built, their blasting created a huge slide that almost blocked the river. This made a difficult salmon run almost impassable ...
Lynden, Washington, United States 2jgstl... birthday - October 16th he turned 51! We had a quiet day but one that still had some adventure. We traveled to Rachael's on the Skytrain for the first time. We parked our car in Coquitlam and hopped on the train and was at her place in less than 10 minutes. That is definitely the way to go. We stayed at her place for about an hour and come back by train, then went out to dinner at a chain here called Earls. The food was exceptional and Steve seemed to really enjoy his day. The day ...
Port Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada colleen.killorn... We spent the rest of the weekend getting things in the apartment in order. We had purchased shelving for the laundry room (closet) and hanging pictures. The place was now ready. We had our first showing of the apartment on the internet...we had the chance to show the apartment to all of Steve's family (who were at his parent's place for Thanksgiving) via the internet using Skype. We were on a video conference call and we took the computer to each room so they could ...
Port Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada colleen.killorn... check around after he had finished. The rest of the day therefore was set aside for just having a nice relaxing time and enjoying having our new friends with us. We had a BBQ tea and mucked about with the kids until it was time to settle them down for the night. Craig and Steve carried on with the Whisky late into the night while I went off to bed!
Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada manningnzThis afternoon we went to the zoo well my grandparents went to there motor home. I guess they had to go pick things up and I don't know. The zoo was awesome. We walked a long ways and it was hot and I was wearing flip flops. Luckily I didn't get any blisters. It was only really red. We saw hippos, bears, cougars, lions, cheetahs, and a lot of other animals. My grandparents waited in the parking lot and read ...
Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada sabrinapm... haughty contentious National Geographic prison forever - hah hah hahhhh!". I'm ready to burst with excitement at whatever all of this possibility, this creative human potential, might mean for my future. The hope this city gives me for finding a more positive, creative way to live on this planet is something I'll be thinking about as we move on. I'm feeling my old, heavy, crusty National Geographic shackles crumbling into dust and it feels good. Thank you, Vancouver!
Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada csimpson... holidays and Bec Hanniford who was working there. Also one of my mates from UNSW was there too and we loaded up on sushi one night (which cost a fortune). Leaving for Home It only struck me when i was sitting at the airport that my trip was pretty much over. Up until that point i was pumped to be going home and then i had my doubts. Then again i was looking forward to surprising my parents... Nath
Vancouver, Canada nath_h... people trying to hire equipment we waited in the line for 5 hours and didn't ski), we struck up conversation with a loverly young girl names Toni from Australia. We ended up having dinner with her and later meeting up while we were in Seattle. We took a stroll around Stanley Park (beautiful) and really just relaxed while we were here. We even found time to take in a movie, Shop Girl with Steve Martin and Claire Danes.
