... lunch and then onto another railway station when we managed to catch the last train on the eight mile stretch, the windows were open and as we rounded a bend all the steam and soot came in through the window and covered us! At the end we watched the engine as it was turned around on the turnstile. We sound like real anoraks! ... up an incline of 18%. the seats of the carriage were at a really weird angle so when we first got on and the train was horizontal the seats made it seem like we were practically lying down. It works on a pulley system and as one carriage goes up the other goes down and there's a small area in the middle where the track splits and they cross over.
