Got on the road this morning about 9:45 due to some paperwork and household issues. Nice day of riding down US 72 across north Mississippi and Alabama and on into Chattanooga arriving at Davied's about 5:30 local time (Eastern time zone). Stopped for gas twice on way over and had lunch in Decatur, AL. Weather was pretty nice with some clouds and temps in the upper 80s and lower 90s. Not perfect but much better than the upper 90s ...
Cassie flew in from Palm Beach, but didn't get to Atlanta until late at night
We went to eat dinner in the city
Got lost trying to find our car - Scary!
Ended up getting Steak and Shake
Drove to Cloudland Canyon and went camping with Alicia and Matt
Beautiful mountains and views!
Hiked down the canyon to the waterfalls
Went swimming in the waterfalls
So cold but ...
... actually had the key for the bike lock with us so we rode our bikes on the less traveled roads of the Chickamauga Battlefield in the relatively cool morning hours. Had a covered dish and meeting with 10K members and then went into Chattanooga for a concert in the park on the river.
We have visited Chattanooga before so we had already seen the Aquarium, Chattanooga Choo Choo, and Incline Railroad.
... friends and began the last leg of our journey. We were headed home to Florida. The plan was to take 4 days to make the drive from Illinois to Florida. We managed to get 350 miles down the road. We've enjoyed so much good weather on this trip. There has been very little rain and even though the southern states were pretty hot the humidity levels were much lower than we're use to in Florida. Even Alaska had pleasant temperatures and little rain. We had a thunderstorm this evening that created some puddles in the campsites but it didn't stop the guys from their usual evening chill ...
