The lake is really nice, there is a light breeze, that is a little chilly, and though the towns aren't too populated, they are closer together. They are a lot less touristy than imagined, because of their names( peacock point;hickory beach) and their placement on shore. There are few grocery stores, and the towns have too many houses, with few places to stop. The few places we have rested have been very nice, though. ...

It was a long but satisfying day. We biked 93 miles, most with the wind at our back, or a cross breeze. The change of scenery was taken, gratefully, and we are now seeing other crops beside corn and wheat (potatoes, cherry trees, apple trees). The water is a really blue green, really tropical looking. ... that the Canadians are clearly very homesick of the UK because every road has some form or British Origin and some of their main motorways aren't Highway 81 but Queen Elizabeth Drive & King George Parkway....

The very flat open farmlands were full of corn and the ride was beautiful and it then became dotted with giant windfarms that I actually find quite attractive and certainly a posiitve blight on the landscape rather than a coal ...

... I ate my first burger and fries in 45 days and it was delicious! :)
We didn't stay too late to avoid more crowds and the possible drunken sillinesss that could happen later in the day. Sounds like we didn't have to worry about that though, because a friend who stayed in Port Dover over night told me that by midnight, the town was quiet, and the next day, you wouldn't even know there had 90,000 bikers ...

... that if you are interested, do a quick Google search on San Miguel, and you will quickly find out where it is, there is no beach, and why we fell in love with it. As for the first question - the simple answer is YES, IT IS SAFE!, but I think I will save that topic to explore in more depth in a future entry.
