We are home
from Fiesta Key. It was a wonderous time spent with good friends. We
drove down on Thursday afternoon under a cold grey sky. By the time we
arrived the cold front's winds were buffeting the RV around and chilling

... model at ‘Ally Pally’ would probably not have cost even a hundredth of this figure. However, the micro engineering in England would probably have been far more precise than in these leviathans in front of us now. The paintwork on their hulls was simply stunning. ... But in the late 1940s there was a major red tide which wiped out the sponge fields and most of the sponge boats turned to shrimping and fishing for their income. There are still a few sponge boats around the Gulf, but they seem to have congregated in Tarpon Springs, thus making this the largest community of sponge divers in the world, according to our boat captain/former sponge diver.
