... have ever seen. We stopped to see bison who were grazing right by the road on our way to Madison Ranger Station for a Junior Ranger program. The area where the girls had their talk there was a HUGE bison less than 50 feet who was just resting in the middle of a huge meadow. He hung out there the whole time we were there and occasionally would glance over at us but otherwise was not bothered by our presence. Driving back to our campsite we ...

... Road to the Sun through Glacier National Park. This was, we were assured, an amazing, narrow and torturous alpine road that we were sure to enjoy. That was the advertising at any rate. After a rather slow start trying to find fuel in a village busy closing down for the winter, we headed for the hills. The ride started poorly. The first 30 km of road were under repair, and we were reduced to a slow crawl behind cars and bikes obviously afraid ...

... iron - were starting to get to us. Flagg Ranch therefore offered up a nice break in a number of ways. There were pristine, boiling hot showers for one; a convenience store to buy lots of food from for two; and finally, a lovely couple called Christine and Rich who invited us over to share their fire and a few beers. Things soon felt good again after a tough day. + Day 31. Friday 12th September. Flagg Ranch to Angel Trailhead. The night was freezing, but our kit held up ...
