We continue to make our way east, next stop the Upper Peninsula of the state of Michigan to the city of Marquette. The population was 21,355 at the 2010 census, making it the most populated city of the UP. Note: the entire UP only has a little over 311,000 residence. Marquette is a major port on Lake Superior, primarily for shipping iron ore (see picture below of train dock), and is the home of Northern Michigan University. Just as we were get on the highway to head toward Marquette, I spotted a Buffalo Wild Wings!! That would have been a perfect back-up plan to The Antlers last night! POOP!

... had a couple beautiful bridges across Lake Superior, but a very depressed area. Very boring drive as not a lot to see, so we wanted to get some kilometers behind us, so we drove 1,000 kms on Saturday, traveling till darkness fell at approx 9:45 pm when I saw a sign that said " watch for Moose next 35 miles", that did it and we started to look for a place, but all we saw were trees and lakes, as I began to image us sleeping at a rest stop! Wisconsin is a state of 10,000 ...
