... woman behind me, who has her husband in tow, speaks English and helps facilitate the transaction so I buy round trip tickets for 30€. Ferry is to depart at 11AM. It arrives and we board. Pretty cool. Not too many people walked on. The crossing is only 1 hour and 30 minutes. Beautiful day, sunny. But windy. So begins the trek. Time to start moving south in the hope of some warmer weather and less rain.......Daisy was raring to go just after 9.30am so we headed off to Vannes on the south coast of Brittany and arrived around midday. We were really looking forward to this campsite as it was close to the town centre and had a full spa facility including a 26 deg pool, sauna, jacuzzi and steam room which we could use for 10 euros for 5 ...

... in WW II when they occupied France. They are still there, and I am presuming that their present role is to as an anchorage for large yachts.
The Germans had occupied all the countries on the Atlantic, English Channel and North Sea of Europe and constructed defences in strategic sites along that long coast line. One can still see the gun emplacements on the cliffs of Brittany, Bordeaux and Normandy. It is still frightening to see and think ...
