There's been thunder and lightning and rain all night and it's still a bit gloomy when we meet for breakfast. The forecast is to clear by about 11am so we will take the van to our first visit today, the Carnac Alignments, and then see how the weather is. Hoping for a bike ride after that. The Carnac Alignments are a series of standing stones that are set in parallel lines. The area is 3kms long and about 50m wide. ...

Let's book a cycling holiday in France, she said, for a week, she said, it will be fun, she said. And I remind Rob, it is lots of fun. But bits of me still hurt and I am a bit tired at the end of the ride. Still, if it was easy, anyone could do it :). Our next stop was a cider maker where we watched a film about how they used to make cider and how they do it now - again in French but we managed to get the gist. Then ...

... as they covered quite a lot of ground. They were very impressive to see and certainly fascinated Rose. Leaving Carnac we then travelled for another hour to see something called The Universe Of The Scrap Metal Poet. This was an installation of moving sculptures created by an eccentric ex-teacher in a small Brittany village. Using discarded scrap materials, he created an impressive number of impressive indoor scenes and outdoor sculptures over a period of ...

Took the car out to Piriac sur Mer today to explore the coastal area south east of Vannes. It didn't disappoint, nice old port and quaint coastal town. We stopped off for a lakeside walk in the village of Asserac on the way there, and coffee and a bit of shopping in Roche St Bernard on the way ...
