Day 7: Pigeon Forge is a kids' Vegas

The Sleep Inn was simple, newly renovated, and the price was right. Best part - they accommodated my little doggy who hung out in the room while we were at Wonderworks. Was surprised to find out it was super close to Wonderworks, so that worked out in our favor. It would have been a pain to stay in a more central "Pigeon Forge" hotel and have to travel so far when Wonderworks is near the end of the Strip.

Day 6: Rain, rain go away

... We ended up heading to a trout pond for an hour - Matt was thrilled to catch 2 trout. The owner was really nice to him - he was having trouble catching the 2nd trout (with corn kernels!) and I explained we were pressed for time. The owner brought out worms to help speed things up and coached him a little until he eventually became the proud owner of 2 nice-sized trout (that ...

Day 5: Attempted a quiet, lazy day

... Turned back earlier than we had planned because the trail kept leading up and up and up.

Then on our way back to the cabin we stopped at Cable Cove. Our hosts told us it had a nice creek to play in. We stopped in an empty campsite and took a look at the creek running behind it. The kids decided they didn't want the creek but wanted to play in the lake at the boat launch ...

    Day 4: All about riding!

A travel blog entry by elainesj on Jul 16, 2014

... the Forest was a very nice hike - a little challenging as there was a steady climb. The boys quit halfway through, claiming boredom, retracing their steps to the parking lot. We girls pushed on and enjoyed the walk. Sadly, I missed the giant trees somehow. I'm still not sure how I missed seeing them - maybe I missed a spur on the trail?

After all this, we rejoined Phan and Thao at the motorcycle rental place and headed back for a bonfire at the cabin.

Day 2: Super duper wild tube ride

... switched to hiking shoes and hiked the waterfall trail that started right from the same parking lot. We did cut it short after an hour or so as we figured the boys would be done.

We returned to find the two men snoozing while Matt and Esen ran around them in circles. They had also found some awesome glittery iron pyrites, one in the shape of a heart, in the creek.
    We would definitely go back!
